CPI ：消费者物价指数(Consumer Price Index)，英文缩写为CPI，是反映与居民生活有关的商品及劳务价格统计出来的物价变动指标，通常作为观察通货膨胀水平的重要指标。一般说来当CPI>3%的增幅时我们称为Inflation，就是通货膨胀；而当CPI>5%的增幅时，我们把它称为Serious Inflation，就是严重的通货膨胀。 另有，CPI清廉指数（corruption perceptions index）、电脑中的CPI（Characters Per Inch）、衡量计算机性能的CPI（cycles per instruction）、管理学中的CPI(Common Performance Indicator) 等。
PPI：Consumer Price Index，消费者物价指数或居民消费价格指数 。另外还有其他含义，比如PPI = Pixels per inch，每英寸所拥有的像素（Pixel）数目；PPI = pyrophosphoric acid，焦磷酸；PPI = process performance index，过程能力指数；PPI = Protein-Protein Interaction，蛋白质互相作用；PPI = PDH Physical Interface，PDH物理接口
